Research Interest
Rachel Selinsky is a materials chemist focusing on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials. She obtained her PhD in chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Song Jin at University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2012, investigating the design and synthesis of nanocrystal-nanowire heterostructures and concentrated magnetic semiconductor nanocrystals. Prior to that, she received degrees in chemistry and art from Williams College. She has extensive experience in colloidal and hydrothermal nanocrystal syntheses, electron microscopy, analysis using X-ray instrumentation, and bulk and oxidation state specific magnetic characterization. Her research interests include developing methods for synthesis of nanomaterials, chemistry education and outreach, and cultural heritage science.
