Biography

Ken Hara joined the Theory Department of PPPL as a visiting research physicist and as a Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellow. He obtained PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan, and BS and MS from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics in the University of Tokyo. During his doctoral studies, he received the IEEE Graduate Student Award and the Outstanding Student Paper Award at ICOPS in 2014. His main research interests include electric propulsion devices, development of kinetic simulation methods, wave-plasma and beam-plasma instabilities, and computational fluid and plasma dynamics.
